Jono

Postby Bluedoglover » Fri Sep 05, 2014 10:01 am

I just got this message on my timeline and felt it was good to post it here, so everyone who knew and liked him knows. I'll change his IRL name to his PS handle.

Hi I'm Sean I'm Jono's proud brother in law,
I have the hardest job to do right now, to let all the people that loved this great man know that
Jono in Aidelaide has passed away and has found his peace.
Loved eternally by your family and friends

I think I remember reading a while back that he had become agoraphobic following the death of his mother.

I may be wrong.

It's such a sad loss.

I saw the posts on Facebook as well, and figured Jono would have wanted his passing to be recorded here as well.

I was lucky enough to meet the big man in Sydney, and have kept in vague touch ever since. As I guess most long-term posters here know, he was fantastically funny and generous and genuine. I wish I had known him better. The posts on Facebook suggest he suffered from depression - I wish I'd known that too.

My most recent contact with him was last weekend. I posted photos of the view from my new apartment, and Jono asked whether the pond in the foreground was actually sewerage!!

I'll miss the man, and will raise a glass of very decent Pinot Noir to him tonight.

A terrible shock... I never met Jono in real life but felt like I had as we'd shared so many discussions and arguments and conspiracies on here and on Facebook. Like soda, I'd been blathering with him this week, doing more of our 'solving' of all problems Australian. I can't believe he's gone...

Oh no. I didn't open this thread until now, because I thought it'd just be a 'where is he these days?' post. It was only seeing a reference to it in another thread that made me look.

I'm so sorry to hear this. He seemed a very nice guy. For those of you who knew him very well, my condolences.

Wow, Jono was a real human being in every way. Fair, honest, and always willing to express his true feelings. He was always a delight, and I just can't believe it. I certainly will miss him dearly.

It has been difficult to post a reply to this, it seems so unreal. Although I never met Jono in person, have known him for so many years here and on FB. When I read this news this morning, I felt, as does everyone else, a huge sense of loss. He was always a gentleman, always interesting and kind. He will be missed greatly.

Weird to say from afar, but with some posters an inherent decency would shine through the pixels.

Jono was one of the those guys.

I saw the post from his BiL yesterday morning when I was at work.

24 hours later and I still can't get over the fact that he's gone... Jono was like 30 seconds older than me (well, more like ~12 weeks my senior, but we were more or less the same age), so it was and continues to be quite the shock to the system that we'll no longer hear about his adventures.

Rest in peace, Friend.

Very well said. Shit. that news has left me a bit stunned.

Could we please not have any more deaths for a while - there's been quite enough here and in real life for now......
