This is just more proof about how clueless this administration is. The president's first trip is usually to one of the US' most important allies and trading partners, like Canada or to Mexico. Instead Trump sticks his neck into the ME cesspool. Bungling ego on legs.

I read he may get the psychotic Sunnis running KSA to sign something agreeing to quit exporting their batshit religion.

If so, it is huge. Way huger than anything Hussein the Laureate would ever contemplate. All that asshole was good for was bashing Israel and bowing to despots.

Germany has banned foreign-produced media programmes for a month before its elections.

Seems like a good idea.

Merely the mention of my correct foreign policy imperative on the news is a cause for celebration.

Somebody on his foreign policy team is thinking. It's a first, since about 1962.

Shit really? I'm VERY surprised they are going with him. Riyadh has its own airport for the royal family, so at least they won't have to do battle with the ogling locals. I tried to get a close look at Obamas entourage when I worked at the airport there, but security was the tightest i've ever seen. The royal palace is out of the city a bit, so i'd imagine they'll stay there. I wonder what the deal with the press is?

They are. Except for all the locals who are part Jewish, which is pretty much all of them except for the African slave admixture.

I do like the vision of Trump bringing two Jews into that shithole, however. Hussein wouldn't have done it.

I couldn't help but smile as I heard this morning's radio newscast announcing that Saudi Arabia had bestowed on President Trump the kingdom's highest civilian honor, the collar of someone-or-other. I pictured the President beaming as they draped some sort of jeweled thing over his shoulders -- one more thing to include among his record of greatest, biggest, best, and other superlatives.

That should certainly divert our attention from another piece of news this morning, that the FBI probe is continuing even with Comey out as its head, and that it now is looking at someone within the White House itself as "a person of significant interest."

Look at all that gold!

President Trump doesn't appear to be beaming in the photo, probably because he's a little worried that King Salman might muss his hair while placing the Collar of Abdulaziz Al Saud over his head and shoulders.

I smiled too NA. They know how to play this guy- lots of shiny stuff and red carpets special "awards" and he will give them anything they want. Iran's Zarif urges Trump to discuss avoiding another 9/11 with Saudis .,
Iran's foreign minister, Mohammad Javad Zarif, advised U.S. President Donald Trump to discuss how to avoid another September 11 attack with the Saudi hosts of his first official visit abroad, Zarif wrote in an editorial published on Sunday.

Tehran and Riyadh are regional arch-rivals which accuse each other of sponsoring fundamentalist militias aligned to their competing sects of Islam in war zones across the Middle East.

Critics of Saudi Arabia say its strict view of Islam fuels Sunni extremism, called takfir, and some even accuse the kingdom of responsibility for the September 11 attacks.

Saudi Arabia denies providing any support for the 19 hijackers - most of whom were Saudi citizens - who killed nearly 3,000 people in 2001.

"(Trump) must enter into dialogue with them about ways to prevent terrorists and takfiris from continuing to fuel the fire in the region and repeating the likes of the September 11 incident by their sponsors in Western countries," Zarif wrote for the website of the London-based Al Araby Al-Jadeed news network.

At a campaign event last February, Trump himself suggested to supporters that the kingdom may be behind the attacks.

"You will find out who really knocked down the World Trade Center because they have papers out there that are very secret. You may find it's the Saudis, okay, but you will find out."

But since his election, Trump has put an end to his sharp commentary in public and on his twitter account about the key U.S. ally and the world's top oil exporter.

Separately, a senior Iranian military official rejected a call by U.S. Secretary of State Rex Tillerson for newly re- elected Iranian President Hassan Rouhani to end Tehran's ballistic missile program and what he called its "network of terrorism".

Brigadier General Masoud Jazayeri, deputy chief of staff of Iran's armed forces, said Tillerson's remarks "reflected ignorance about Iran", the state news agency IRNA reported.

Why are so many people on politicalstew so clueless about the Middle East?

Do none of you guys actually read Middle Eastern News?

This is what it was about:
In his first overseas trip as president, Donald Trump sealed an arms deal with Saudi Arabia worth $350 billion over 10 years, with nearly $110 billion to take effect immediately.

https://www.almasdarnews.com/article/tr ... di-arabia/

Yea $350 billion which is the biggest USA arms deal ever and I think might be the biggest international economic deal the USA has ever signed but I don't know that for sure.

But the good part for Smoker is this means Trump's election campaign "American Isolationism" rhetoric is a memory and at least America will stay engaged in the Middle East providing Smoker with daily security but of who knows about Trump's intentions regarding "obsolete NATO" in Europe & his intentions regarding the Far East.
